जाति न पूछो साधू की

जाति न पूछो साधू की पूछ लीजिए ज्ञान ।
मोल करो तलवार को पडा रहन दो म्यान ॥

हिन्दी अनुवाद (अर्थ) –

कबीर दास जी कहते हैं कि सच्चा साधु सब प्रकार के भेदभावों से ऊपर उठा हुआ होता है, साधू से यह कभी नहीं पूछना चाहिए कि वह किस जाति का है उसका ज्ञान ही, उसका सम्मान करने के लिए पर्याप्त है, जिस प्रकार एक तलवार का मोल का आंकलन उसकी धार के आधार पर किया जाता है ना की उसके म्यान के आधार पर ठीक उसी प्रकार, एक साधु की जाति भी तलवार के म्यान के समान है और उसका ज्ञान तलवार की धार के समान है । अतः साधु से केवल ज्ञान की बातें करनी चाहिए।

Meaning – 

Kabir Das ji says that a true sage is above all kinds of discrimination, one should never ask a sage that the knowledge of which caste he belongs, is enough to respect him, just like the cost of a sword. It is judged on the basis of its edge and not on the basis of its sheath, in the same way, the caste of a monk is like the sheath of a sword and his knowledge is like the edge of the sword. Therefore, only talk of knowledge should be done with a sage.
