शीश दियो जो गुरु मिले, तो भी सस्ता जान ।।
हिन्दी अनुवाद (अर्थ) –
कबीर दास जी कहते हैं, कि यह जो हमारा शरीर है वह जहर के सामान बुराइयों (विष) से भरा हुआ है और एक सच्चा गुरु ही अमृत की खान अर्थात उन जहर के सामान बुराइयों का अंत करने में सहायक होता हैं। यदि अपना शीश (मस्तक) की बली कर देने के बदले में आपको कोई सच्चा गुरु मिले तो ये सौदा बहुत भी सस्ता है अर्थात यदि गुरु चरणों में नमन होने से, बुराइयों से छुटकारा पाया जा सकता हैं तो यह बहुत ही सस्ता और सरल मार्ग हैं। अतः गुरू ही सर्वश्रेष्ठ है।
